As you may or may not know (or may have guessed) psilocybin is the hallucinogenic ingredient in magic mushrooms<\/a>. And honestly, I always thought that Mad Mushrooms<\/a> in the Keen games were supposed to be blatant reference to the trip-inducing fungus. Although as I created this comic, I started to wonder if maybe an insane mushroom is just an insane mushroom and I was reading too much into it. So let me know if you had the same reaction when you saw the character or if maybe I’m the one who’s tripping.

On a totally different note, this comic is a good example of the difficulty with making a pun in written form. Like, was I supposed to write “fun guy” or “fungi,” because I’m really trusting the audience to either have heard the joke before or somehow just figure it out. Although, even when you say those jokes out loud, people don’t always get it. My son told me a couple of days ago that he never got the “Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 8 9” joke until he teacher had to literally say “Because 7 ate 9 for dinner.” So I guess you can only do so much.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
